Big sister, Della, and I waited patiently while Jamie prepared little Genova Birdie for her photo session upstairs. Della gingerly lay the flowers on the bed for the wreath pictures as I cut them and listened to her sweet chit chat. She told me all about starting school this year, getting to visit her daddy at work and her latest art projects. Della giggled as I explained that the flowers we were using were called “baby’s breath” and we both confessed our love for fresh blooms. Suddenly Della’s face filled with pride and adoration as her mom quietly brought Birdie into the room. Oh! She was so tiny! So fresh and lovely. My own baby had been born just 3 months earlier, but somehow those delicate first days are so fleeting and easy to forget. I started snapping away and saying silent prayers of thanksgiving to God for this beautiful new life. The Schneider’s home was filled with love, joy and all the care of a family learning their newest member. It was an honor to be with Birdie and her family for a few hours and I’m so thrilled to deliver these photos for them to remember her first days on earth.
